The cause depends on the fan
Progress Lighting’s P2548 instructions name blade-weight variation and unequal blade levels as possible contributors to wobble on that model. Its manual does not identify the cause for a different fan, and seeing a wobble alone does not show which factor, if any, applies.
Useful observations to record
Without touching or reaching toward a moving fan, note whether the movement happens at one speed or all speeds, whether it is new or getting stronger, and whether there is a new clicking, scraping, or electrical sound. If the fan was recently installed or a blade, light, or control changed, include that history if known. A short video from a safe distance can show the movement, but it cannot establish whether the support or installation is secure.
When not to keep using it
If the fan shifts noticeably at the ceiling, the movement increases, parts look damaged, or there is a burning odor, turn it off and seek qualified help. Do not try to tighten, balance, or inspect a rotating fan. To ask about ceiling fan work, see Lighting & Electrical Fixtures. The fan installation cost guide explains how location, support, access and model affect the work.
